ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

A Wisconsin woman has been charged with DWI and child endangerment for allegedly driving drunk with her 3 kids in a van that she crashed and rolled in St. Paul.

Christal Luellen, 33, of New Richmond, Wis. is charged with 3 counts of child endangerment, one count of criminal vehicular operation and one count of third-degree DWI.

According to the charges, a Minnesota state trooper spotted Luellen’s van, flipped onto its side, on the Interstate 94 ramp to Lexington Parkway and Concordia Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Friday. When the trooper pulled up to the scene of the crash, Luellen was sitting on the sidewalk and crying with her 3 children, ages 4, 8 and 12. The 8-year-old boy was bleeding heavily from his face, but the other children were not hurt.

Luellen said she had been drinking at Born’s Bar on Rice Street in St. Paul. She said she had 5 drinks at the bar, then went to her aunt’s house, but got into an argument with her aunt and drove away with the kids.

Witnesses told St. Paul police that Luellen’s van ran through a red light before the rollover crash.

A preliminary breath test revealed Luellen had a .176 BAC. She admitted that she had too much to drink and that she shouldn’t have been driving.
