Update planned about Detroit light rail project

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (AP) -- Community members can learn about how and when construction on Detroit's $140 million light rail project will affect the city's Midtown area Wayne State University.
An M-1 Rail construction update is set for Tuesday morning at the Max M. Fisher Music Theater on Woodward Avenue. The public meeting is free.
Officials announced last week that Woodward will close from Adams Street to Campus Martius Park or about 128 days for work starting July 28.
The 3.3-mile streetcar line is to start running along Woodward -- the city's main thoroughfare -- in 2016. It will extend from Detroit's downtown riverfront to the city's New Center area. Below-ground utility relocation began late last year.
