MONDAY OUTLOOK

The area most at risk is the south metro to the Iowa border between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. The storms will bring a chance of hail, strong damaging winds and isolated tornadoes along with locally heavy rain on already saturated ground.

A high wind warning has been issued until 9 p.m. for areas including the Twin Cities metro. As rains taper Monday night, winds will pick up with gusts of nearly 60 mph.

FLOOD DANGERS

In southwestern Minnesota, nearly 1 inch of rain fell in just 10 minutes Monday afternoon, with the storm tracking northeast. That's a big problem for some communities in the area -- especially in Luverne, where a dam spillway broke during a 4-inch rainfall overnight.

Flood warnings are already in effect for the Twin Cities metro and areas south and west of the Twin Cities. The Minnesota State Patrol is warning drivers to not attempt to drive through flooded areas. A trooper snapped this photo of flooding in Rock County on Monday.

In two hours, a total of 1.7 inches of rain fell in the Waseca area on Monday, and numerous trees and power lines were reported down in Blue Earth County by 6 p.m.
