Jeff Gutt finished in second place on The X Factor. Gutt is from Michigan. He was born and grew up in Marine City and currently lives in Clinton Twp.

The winner of the competition was announced during the second part of the season finale Thursday night.

Gutt performed 'O Holy Night' for his holiday song performance, and also performed with fellow finalists Alex and Sierra, who won the competition.

Members of Jeff's band, friends, family members a fans gathered at The Detroit Pub near 14 Mile and Harper roads in Clinton Twp. Thursday night to cheer him on during the finals.

"Unfortunately he didn't win, but, he's just one of the greatest guys I've met. Just a true gentlemen. Even [with] everything he had going on for the last couple weeks, since October, he still had time to text me. You know, wishing him luck, just unbelievable. If anybody deserved it- he deserved it. And I think he's going to go really good," says Paul Mauk who owns the Detroit Pub. He's known Jeff and his band for a while.

During the finale, The X Factor played a touching montage in which family members and others wished him well from back home in Marine City, Jeff's young son, Talon, said he wants to be like him and moved Jeff to tears.

After the winner was announced, host Mario Lopez asks him, "For all the millions of people out there who voted for you, what do you want to say to them?"

Jeff replied, "I owe you guys everything and I'm not going to give up. I'm going to be out there; I'm going to be on tour; I'm going to be making records. I've gotten to know a lot of the right people in this process and I just want to thank you all, and Merry Christmas, and congratulations to Alex and Sierra.

Congratulations to you too, Jeff!
