Sources: Kevin Martin to sign with Wolves, cue Ricky Martin references

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Kevin Martin and the Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly reached a four-year, $28 million contract agreement, Yahoo! Sports sources report, and now that the Wolves have also struck 3-year, $16 million deal to resign swingman Chase Budinger, it'll be backcourt heaven.

Teams and players can only reach verbal agreements until July 10, but sources say Martin was hoping to get off the bench and become an impact player again under Wolves head coach Rick Adelman.

Cue Ricky Martin references.

Indeed, the acquisition of the Oklahoma City shooting guard has left many drooling over the thought of Ricky Rubio distributing to him and Budinger, and it could position the Wolves as a top offensive team in the league.

The 6'7" Martin averaged 14 points on 45 percent shooting for the Thunder this past season, and is familiar with Adelman's corner offense after playing under him in Sacramento and Houston. Martin also shot 42.6 percent from downtown last season off the bench, and now he could see himself as a starter.

Budinger played just 23 games last season due to a lateral tear in his meniscus, but could average above 40 percent from 3-point land in a healthy season. It's much harder to make pop culture references from the first half of the millennium with a last name like that, but this team could be livin' la vida loca -- on one end of the court, anyway.

Perhaps this move will inspire the real Ricky Martin to drop another album. Here's hoping.
