The clock struck midnight (or a tick after) and according to several sources, the Wolves got busy in search of a veteran shooting guard. The Wolves called Oklahoma City guard at 12:01 according to several reports. Martin averaged 14 points per game last season but more importantly for the Wolves needs, shot 42 percent from 3-point range.
With Andrei Kirilenko opting out of his 10 million dollar contract, the Wolves have more flexibility to fill the shooting guard hole and among names other than Martin is free agent O.J. Mayo who the Wolves drafted then traded for Kevin Love.
Center Nikola Pekovic is a restricted free-agent but the team is thought to retain him unless he is signed to an offer sheet that doesn't make sense for the team.
Currently the team has 8 players under contract including Love, Ricky Rubio, Derrick Williams, JJ Barea, Luke Ridnour, Alexey Shved, Dante Cunningham and Chris Johnson. Greg Stiemsma and Mickael Gelabale have non-guaranteed contracts and could be released or used in a trade.
