ATLANTA (WJBK) -

After tossing and turning for only three hours of sleep after Saturday night's win over Syracuse, Michigan head coach John Beilein said he got out of bed Sunday to begin the daunting task of getting ready for Louisville with only one practice in just over 24 hours.

"I started at 5:45 this morning watching them on film and those two hours, I didn't think they were fun," said Beilein. "They give you so many different looks and with one-day prep, it's almost impossible to get ready for all those things. What you're hoping is, that you've been getting ready for those things since Oct. 15."

The Cardinals (34-5) have lived up to their billing as the tournament's top overall seed, blowing through their first four opponents before rallying from a dozen points down in the second half to beat surprising Wichita State 72-68 in the national semifinals.

"We know we have to play a great game to beat Michigan," said Louisville head coach Rick Pitino. "With one-day prep, this is probably the toughest prep day we'll ever have with all the things they run."

The Wolverines (31-7) haven't exactly been pushovers on the hardwood this season.

They won a national title in 1989, beating Seton Hall in overtime. They've lost three other times in the championship. The program is best known, of course, for the Fab Five, that group of five stellar recruits who led Michigan to back-to-back finals appearances in 1992 and '93.

This team is cut from the same mold, with three freshmen starters and two other first-year players who made big contributions in a semifinal victory over Syracuse.

"It's exhausting, but it's a thrill," said Mitch McCary.

Instead of going up against the 2-3 zone, the defensive talk shifts to the Cardinals' press in a matchup that's highlighted by the nation's two best backcourts. "Both teams are going to bring it," said Tim Hardaway Jr.
