The news has gone from bad to worse for the Timberwolves in the past 24 hours. First the team learned late Wednesday afternoon that all-star forward Kevin Love will require surgery on his injured right hand that will keep him out for 8-10 weeks. To add insult to injury, the Wolves took to the court against Oklahoma City who then dropped the boom winning by 22 points 106-84.
Minnesota played its second straight game without head coach Rick Adelman who is away from the team dealing with a personal matter. Kevin Durant scored 26 points and Russell Westbrook added 23 in the win.
Oklahoma City scored seven straight points early in the second half and then led by as many as 24 points before the two Thunder stars watched the remainder of the game from the bench.
Alexey Shved scored 18 points to lead the shorthanded Wolves who played without J.J. Barea who missed the game with back spasms. Nikola Pekovic scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds while Derrick Williams had 14 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.
