The Arc Greater Twin Cities 2013 Gala will take place on February 9, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Malamanya, a six-member Minneapolis-based Latin/Cuban band. Actress Lauren Potter, from the television show "Glee," will be on-hand to talk about her own experiences having Down Syndrome, as well as why supporting abuse prevention in the disabled community is so important.
Gala proceeds support many crucial programs at The Arc Greater Twin Cities. The 2013 Gala will have a special focus on The Arc's Abuse Prevention Initiative. Individuals with disabilities experience abuse and bullying at a far greater rate than others -- One-third of children with disabilities will experience physical abuse and two-thirds will be sexually abused.
You can help when you support The Arc's multi-pronged effort to prevent abuse which reaches out to students with disabilities in transition, adults with disabilities, victim services professionals, parents and other disability organizations. The Arc Greater Twin Cities is taking action to make life safer for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities – and we invite you to join us.
