Love loses glove, Wolves win game

Posted: Updated:

Kevin Love removed the padded glove and helped the Timberwolves to a 97-89 win over Sacramento ending the teams five game losing streak.

Love had been wearing the protective glove since returning from injury last Wednesday night but had issues with his shooting touch from the field. It was the first 20-20 performance in the NBA this season.

Luke Ridnour shot the ball better and finished with 18 points, five-rebounds while Nikola Pekovic finished with 16 points and eight rebounds in the win.

The Wolves held a double-digit lead heading into the fourth quarter only to watch the Kings close the gap to two with a little over a minute remaining. Andrei Kirilenko, who finished with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists found Pekovic for a layup to extend the lead to four with a minute left. He then blocked DeMarcus Cousins in essence ending the Kings bid for a comeback win.

Love put the icing on the cake when his turnaround desperation prayer from 15 feet away went in as the shot clock expired.

The win bumps the Wolves record to 6-7 and 2-0 against the Kings in the early season. The Wolves play the final game of their current road trip tonight as they face the Clippers in Los Angeles.
