Ever wonder what compels volunteers to bell ring in the frigid cold? It's because they all understand how your handful of change or folded bill becomes something truly amazing – a warm bed, a meal, a little compassion or a second chance.
The bell ringing season starts in November and runs through the Christmas Eve, and there several ways you can help.
- Sign up to volunteer now. The holidays are the perfect time to volunteer at your local Salvation Army. The opportunities abound from bell ringing and working at our toy shop to serving a meal and so much more. Sign up today before all the spots are filled.
- Standing in the cold not your thing? No problem. Be a virtual bell ringer. Create a Personal Kettle. Use the "Join My Team" button at the top of the page to start setting up a personal kettle. Then, ask friends, family and coworkers to donate to your kettle. All funds you raise will be counted toward our $108,000 goal!!
The Twin Cities Salvation Army is making volunteering even easier with the release of a free iPhone app. called "Bell Ringer TC". It's designed to put all the answers about bell ringing into the palm of your hand. The app was developed for free by generous U.S. Bank employees who used volunteering hours to create the whole app from scratch. The Bell Ringer TC app even feeds the hungry-- as U.S. Bancorp Foundation will donate $1 for a meal to the Twin Cities Salvation Army every time the app is downloaded, up to $1000.
In its first phase the app. is only available on the iPhone platform-- search "Bell Ringer TC" in the App. Store. More features will be added soon, including a donate button.
