ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

The St. Paul Police Department confirms police used deadly force on a man in the 340 block of Jessamine Avenue on Tuesday.

Police said the officer-involved shooting took place at about 4 p.m. after police stopped a car as part of a drug investigation that began in Minneapolis.

According to investigators, police were seeking a long-time drug dealer making a delivery when they tried to block him in and he began driving back and forth, ramming two squad cars.

Officers said the driver's actions led them to believe their lives were in jeopardy, and they opened fire on him, killing him in the driver's seat.

The victim, described only as an adult man, was fatally shot. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner is working to identify him.

Police say two other people were in the car as well, but neither were hurt. Both of them are being questioned.

The two police officers involved are being interviewed, department officials say. Both have been placed on standard administrative leave.
